Terrorists-never underestimate the power of change with Justifeyed!
On Tuesday, October 31st, a little after 3pm, twenty-nine year old Sayfullo Saipov, a suspected terrorist, plowed through a busy bicycle and walk path near the World Trade Memorial in lower Manhattan.
Just hours before the city's Halloween parade and festivities were to begin, Saipov began careening onto the path, running over many pedestrians and cyclists, killing eight and injuring eleven. The attack ended when Saipov crashed into a school bus leaving a mile long crime scene behind him. Bodies and destroyed bicycles parts were strewn down the bike path along the Hudson River.
Witnesses say Saipov yelled "Allahu Akbar", - "God is Great" in Arabic, as he emerged from the truck with a pellet and paintball gun, while running up and down the highway before being shot in the abdomen. He now remains in critical condition.
Saipov came to the United States from Uzbekistan in 2010, and holds a green card that has allowed permanent legal residence. He currently holds residences in Paterson, NJ and Tampa FL.
This attack highlights the danger of vehicle onslaught on busy city streets. Just five months earlier a car rammed into pedestrians in Times Square, killing one person; and last year in Nice, France, 86 people were killed and 303 were injured when a cargo truck drove full speed at a large crowd watching a firework display on the seafront, celebrating Bastille Day.
Terrorism analysts noted that on Monday a French pro ISIS media unit put out a specific threat for Halloween.
