UW Oshkosh Where's The Safety

At about 5:20 a.m. on Sunday September 17th, a man attempted to sexually assault a woman near West Irving Avenue and Cherry Street, on the UW Oshkosh campus. Bystanders intervened and the victim was able to escape, according to a University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Police news release. Imagine what might have happened had bystanders not been there.

Oshkosh Police did arrested a 27-year-old Oshkosh man for sexual assault, burglary, and operating a motor vehicle without owner's consent. He was taken into custody, where he will be monitored at a hospital before going to the Winnebago County Jail for the arrests. Authorities are also investigating two similar incidents. As a student can you imagine how unsettling this must be to know this is not an isolated incident? Other than the blue lights on campus, is calling for an escort home is your only other safety option?

As a parent if you have a child that goes to this university, is this something you want to hear about on social media? When you send your child to this univeristy, are you made aware of the crime and sexual assualt statistics when you fill out their application? While being told what safety options are in place, shouldnt you also know why they are in place?

Justifeyed is the solution that can answer the above questions for you. Before the school year even began , Justifeyed was on the UW Oshkosh campus looking to meet with the dean to showcase our app and how it would benefit their school, and all colleges and universities everywhere. We were not able to meet with the Dean, but did manage a meeting with the UW Oshkosh campus police. In meeting with the officer, we were made aware of a safety app that would be available to all students at the beginning of the year. Each news outlet that ran this story and interviewed students, not once was this app mentioned. What was mentioned were the blue lights and to call for someone to escort you home.

If you in an emergency situation on your campus, and someone is coming after you, are you honestly going to stop at a blue light and just stand there waiting to talk with someone? You need to be able to communicate with someone immediately, while still in motion as you're tying to get away. Standing still is only going to get you in more trouble.

Calling for an escort home is great, but should you have to anticipate this every time you walk out your door or walk around campus? Wouldn't it be easier for you to already have something at your fingertips no matter where you go, without having to regret not calling someone first?

Justifeyed is able to provide safety and instant connection to emergency personnel, no matter where you go on OR off campus. If something is happening you do not have to stand around hoping that someone is watching to help you out.

Justifeyed is not just about the student but the parents too. A map that can tell you what you need to know about the campus and surrounding areas. This provides a piece of mind to parents knowing that their children always have their phone on them, and are aware of what's around no matter where they go.

We often hear " we don't have a lot of crime, we are a small campus", try to understand that crime does not discrimnate based on size, it can occur anywhere, at anytime, to anyone.  Justifeyed created an app the will change way we interact with emergency personnel anywhere, anytime, for anyone. No longer is any college student walking alone defenselss.

Now we ask you communiites, colleges, and universities, what are you waiting for? Why haven't you invested in Justifeyed? A uniform system, creates a uniform solution that will created a smoother system to catch criminals. We owe our students the right to safety with out really haveing to think about it. They all have phones, and with Justifeyed we make the phone a safety tool too.

If you can support or donate to Justifeyed , together we can make this happen and make a difference.
